G6 and its likes have been warned by the UN Political Office for Somalia to not interfere with the Selection of the National Federal Parliament of Somalia.

G6, being succeeded to create Khatumo Militia by ill-gotten social mobilization in Northeastern Somalia, is now testing the water to hijack a number of the upcoming new Federal Parliamentary seats in Mogadishu by any means necessary; intimidation, bribery, exchange and demands for favors.

In that respect, the Council of Traditional Elders of Puntland State of Somalia and their constituencies have expressed a grave concern about the new developments of G6’s ill-conceived intentions. G6 members are shrewd professionals that usually place themselves in a position to exploit their expertise and official capacity to manipulate public domains. The Elders have alerted the Technical Selection Committee for the selection of the National Constituent Assembly and the National Federal Parliament, the Arbitration Board and the UN Political Office for Somalia of their worries that such malfeasance will amount to obstruction of the overall Somali peace process.

In that regard, a communique released by the office of The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia, Dr. Augustine Mahiga warns against such intimidation in the selection of the Members of Parliament.

“There have been disturbing reports of undue influence from aspiring politicians in current and former positions. This influence takes many forms including exchange and demands for favors, bribery and intimidation. We should not allow Parliamentary seats to become commodities for sale or items for auction to the highest bidders at a time when we are seeking to reclaim the true stature of a dignified and respected Somali nation.” Mahiga says in the warning statement.

He has continued saying “The intimidation is extended to the Technical Selection Committee, which has demonstrated its integrity and stands ready to reject the names of people who have a history of violence and obstruction or do not meet the criteria established by the Garowe and Galkayo principles.”

“G6” is the shortened form of name known that group of Somali Diaspora called Gang of Six, who has earlier this year cobbled together the half-baked Khatumo Militia that engages in pernicious armed clashes at Northeastern Somalia, which deteriorates the peace and stability of that region. The G6 is led by a politically unpopular desperado named Dr. Ali Khalif Galeydh, who puts to work Dr. Ali Issa Abdi as his public emissary; an old hand on the economy curves, but an impetuous novice when it comes to political potholes. The other four apprentices Dr. Galeydh keeps on short leashes are: Mohamed Burale Farah, Jama Abshir Hassan, Suleman Abdi Duale and Mohamed Saed Omar.

It is not yet known if G6 will call it quits that the UN Political Office for Somalia, the Somali people and the whole world is watching them closely, and indeed there is no place to hide.
